Patch Adams. When Medicine becomes Human Love
Patch Adams'story and aim became popular in 2003 when Universal Studio released "Patch Adam's' a film directed by Tom Shadyac and featured by Robin Williams.
From them on his worked has inpired many other organization such as Clown Doctors (http://clowndoctors.org.au/our-work/clown-doctors.html), the Canadian Association of Therapeutic Clowns (http://www.therapeuticclowns.ca/history.html), Papallupas (http://www.pallapupas.org/ca/) and many other therapeutic clown organization all around the world.
Adam's Patch's work and theories reframed not only complementary care but the idea of what a "doctor" is and should be. It also shreds light to the importance of the medical staff and patiences to be and feel part of a community. Further more, his work focuses in the reciprocal equality of doctors-patients, and the similar health importance of patients and health carers.
